Fun Day

 

It happens every year.

For one day the entire school is divided – teachers, students and even parents.

Sometime families are split in two. It’s red vs. blue. And to the victor goes the spoils – a much coveted NUT (No Uniform Today) day card.

What’s this all about?

Every family in the school must participate. And once your contribution is in, your child can attend one of the most fun days on the school calendar.

That’s why it's aptly named: FUN DAY! Fun Day is usually the Friday before Memorial Day Weekend.

Students anxiously await to don their blue or red colors, and challenge their rival class in competitive games.

There are all sorts of age appropriate games from Pre-k’s hot potato to 4th grade’s relay races.

Last year, for example, the two first grade classes competed against each other to be the first to set up a picnic blanket with cups, forks, food and teddy bears. The students raced in a relay line taking each picnic item down to a red and white checkered blanket where their teachers, Mrs. Costello and Mrs. McHenry, helped them set the picnic.

For the Pre-K and Kindergarten, there are bean bags tosses, hula-hoops and face-painting.

And the MC, Ben Fabrizi, also leads a mean game of Simon Says for the entire school!

This is a day that surely cannot be missed. But it relies on a tremendous amount of parent support to make it a success. So join the Fun Day subcommittee and help us make this day truly fun for every student in the school!
